Sunday morning, we took off and headed into St Peters, to the Waffle Breakfast. As I was riding down the highway, listening to John Hiatt’s album, “Slow Turning”, my buddy Mark Willis pulls up next to me and tells me to get off at the next exit. (Mark gave me my “Slow Turning” cd for my birthday a long time ago!) I was hoping to run into him while I was in town, but with as crazy as the schedule was, I hadn’t made any plans. Kinda cool how that worked out!
By the time I got to the waffle breakfast, the parking lot was pretty full of cool old cars. I wish I would have taken the time to get pictures and could remember everyone I talked with. As I stated, the only car I got pictures of were Jack Stirnemann’s super cool ’34 coupe, with the dual turbocharged flatty!
The ride home was fun. It’s a totally different experience, driving the ’40 stake truck, versus the ’40 coupe. The coupe loves to run around 75mph and the truck prefers to go about 55mph. Both are fun, but taking the truck gives you more time to have Fun during the Run!
