Last week, May 2-4, Dad came down from the StL area and we headed back over to the Stray Kat 500. I had invited Dad to go, last year, and the weather added some interesting twists to the weekend, including cold weather, rain and snow. This year, it was clear and sunny skies and the temperature was 93 degrees, when we left Bartlesville, OK.
For me, the past year has been about increasing my circle of hot rod friends, and the Stray Kat 500 was the kickoff venue for that. It was awesome to get back and hang out with several of the folks that I met due to that event. I’d hate to even begin listing all the new friends that I have made in the past year at the risk of missing several!
Anyway…here’s some of the photos that I took. There’s a few that are not “street rods” (as in the pre-49 vintage), and there’s several that I didn’t take photos of, due to a bad phone battery, but these are the ones that I got.

The FUN is in the RUN!!!
Ron Myers talked me into letting him stripe the decklid. Pretty cool to have some stripes by a guy that Mack Brush named a series of striping brushes after!
The finished artwork on my decklid.
Troy Pate’s version of George McDowell’s old A Coupe.
Ernie and Bobbie Maine’s roadster pickup. The car used to be owned by Paul Vitalli, one of the Roarin’ 30’s, back when I was a kid. I left a note on their steering wheel and they caught up to us on our way out of town. Very cool to finally get to meet them!
Hey like your rods. Do you make the 37 Ford Wild Rod fiberglass body? I have a fiberglass 32, and 33-34 both coupes 3″ chop high boy style . I’m hoping to go to Utah after the Nationals in August, got to taste the salt and feel the burn, its a bucket list thing. Will you be at the Nationals in Kentucky this year? Please let me
know about the 37 body and price , as I’m wanting to build one this winter. Thanks DAVE
