It’s been a while since my last update. Lots of things have happened, but the most significant to the build has been the delay to hot rodding due to the 2020 ‘Ronavirus.
I think in the last update, we had just gotten the front end under the panel. I’ll spare you with the play by play and just add photos with captions to illustrate what has happened since.
I bought some 18ga steel and Mike made the rear floor pan. Before putting it away for the day, had to get a picture in the snow. Flathead and Saginaw 4 speed installed. Starting to get exciting! Corvette style master cylinder and brake plumbing done. 55-57 Chevy Bench Seat style shifter installed. Front floor pan tacked in. Using an old Enos Components “Black Board” for my wiring. Only wired the stuff necessary to make the flathead run at this point. I handed Mike the reproduction battery box and gave him the challenge to make it fit my battery. I chose to use a Genesis battery. While it is small, it’ll crank over the flatty with NO problem. Went junk yarding and picked up a couple of PT Cruiser bucket seats. I think I have $75 invested in the two of them. A closer shot of the modification Mike did to the transmission tunnel to allow room for the shift handle. Floor seams sealed and floor covered in some Imron paint Mike had. Ran the truck up to the gas station and put a few dollars of gas in it. That day we had sandblasted and painted the running boards. And installed windshield glass. The following week I put in the rear door glass. I bought a 3D printer and Quentin Brown designed these knobs for the dash. Still trying to decide which way I want to go with them. For fun, I designed this “flat cap” and printed it on the 3D printer. Mike cut the holes and installed my ’41 Ford passenger car tail lamps. Got the front end bolted on. We had done a repair on the side of the grille, so it was left out that day. Grille in and headlamp buckets just sitting on the fenders with the trim rings. Need to finish up the wiring of the lights on all 4 corners, gauge senders, and it’ll be ready for the muffler shop!
