This past Thursday, the ’40 Ford stake bed was invited to participate in a photo shoot for American National Property and Casualty company’s art department. American National has decided that they would prefer to use photos of their clients classic autos in their marketing materials, versus downloading “stock photos” of cars and trucks that they may or may not insure. Don’t know if the truck will ever be part of the materials, but I’m all for supporting their plan to provide a vehicle to shoot photos of!
I was pretty excited, yet somewhat nervous, as to how things would work out. I had been having some fuel delivery issues, so I decided to leave a little early, to make sure I could get to the appointment on time. Fortunately, there were no issues on the way there, and I had to actually kill some time along the way. I stopped off to walk into Sam’s Club, to grab a slice of pizza, and got distracted by a guy that wanted to look at and ask a ton of questions about the truck.
After spending 20 minutes with him and his wife, I decided to boogie on over to the studio. I was still 15 minutes early, and caught Dan Rockafellow busy eating his lunch, so I waited in his lobby area until he was ready. While there, I found that he had a copy of Book of Hope, so when he invited me back to discuss the photo shoot, I was asking him how he was involved with the Book of Hope ministry. I found that he attends a local church that has a car nut as a pastor and he’s also involved with their annual car show that the church hosts. WAY COOL!
After I pulled the truck into the studio, Dan introduced me to Joel Loera and Kelly McDowell, from American National, who were hosting the photo shoot.
All the photos shown on this page were ones that I took with my cell phone camera, and my preference was to keep either the photo gear or Dan and Joel in the shots. The last one, however, was one that I took as an example of how being in a studio kind of makes the vehicle look like a diecast model in a display case.
After the photo shoot, Dan sent me a contact sheet/proof sheet, to allow me to select which ones are my favorites, so that they can provide a print for me. I’m having a difficult time choosing, to say the least!
